Welcome to the first diary post of Recording Tradition!
The first day started with a rich breakfast as participants needed energy for a day full of activities.
The morning was about Getting to Know Each Other, where this young people from all around Europe had to learn the names of their colleagues (try to teach an Italian how to pronounce an Estonian name...), little by little in a playful way, they learned almost all the names of the 40 people who are participating in this project.
After a lovely lunch provided by the local Youth Club of Dymes, this brave youngsters were asking to go though the village to collect some local food, ask about typical Cypriot words, build a sculpture and help the locals. They just had around an hour to complete all the task in this little village of 150 inhabitants! And they succeed!
Before the dinner the participants had a session on what it is a Youth Pass and why is important (You don’t know why? Google it!), all in a non formal educational way, where they have leaned by experience and participation.
The last activity came after the dinner, and it was called “I’m unique because...”. In this game every single person had to say why they are unique in this european gathering, and if you’re not... bad luck for you! You will have several persons on you who have done the same thing as you, so you have to find quickly why you’re so special, and everyone did it!
After the end of the official schedule, some people of this mixture of cultures stayed in the yard just talking and sharing thoughts, an example of the good vibe you can feel around here.
